Upgrade Firmware HummBox Rev G1 with Greencityzen Update tool

This document is the procedure to follow to be able to modify Greencityzen HummBox devices.

Preparation

For this upgrade you will need : 

• A computer with USB port

HummBox firmware upgrade over cable

• Download and install Simplicity Commander software on your Compute : Simplicity Commander
• Unzip the folder Commander_win32_x64_1v18p1b1901
• Download and install J-LINK driver (with Install legacy USB selected) J-LINK driver

• Hummboxes to be upgraded
• New firmware to deploy : Sent by GCZ support

Update Procedure

1. Open the HummBox carefully (don’t use cordless screw, but manual screw)
2. Remove the two electronic cards ( mother and daughter boards)
3. Unplug the daughterboard (The one with external cables) and the Motherboard.
4. Plug the HummBox firmware upgrade on the PC using the USB port and plug the connector on the motherboard

Be extremely careful to connect the "ext" or marked part on the outside of the card !

5. Run the Simplicity Commander app lauching commander.exe file you downloaded from Commander_win32_x64_1v18p1b1901 folder

6. Click Select Kit button then select the firmware update tool connected :

7. Choose Debug Mode "Out" (From Kit on the left menu)

9. Select the Flash option on the left panel, then erase the current chip’s Flash using Erase Button

10. Choose the firmware file you want to install and click Flash

Once the firmware is upgraded, the device is rebooting.

Please be aware that the Hummbox is not configured after a Firmware Update. If the network is not quite good, few reboots may be mandatory to reconfigure it.

For the Water Flow meter and raingauge cases : 

The first data after a reboot will be false (index return to value Zero), please delete it in the Dashboard measurements.
